Blocklists lose a race they cannot win

YouTube lets you blocklist words and phrases, which works until the spammer changes one character. Scam operations rotate domains constantly, swap in new shorteners, substitute lookalike characters and break URLs across lines. A list of banned strings you maintain by hand is always one edit behind.

RemoveSpam treats the destination as the signal rather than the exact text, so a new domain in a familiar pattern does not get a free pass simply because nobody has added it to a list yet.

Keeping the links you want

Plenty of legitimate comments contain links — your own, your community’s, other creators’. Genuine viewer comments are not removed, and accounts you always want to keep can be whitelisted. Every deletion is logged in your dashboard, so if something is ever filtered that you wanted kept, you can see it rather than wonder about it.
